This mood painting was made as a visual diary over the course of 16 days — each rectangle was painted to reflect the mood felt most pervasively each day. The idea was to convey feelings, allowing the full expression of each one to carry me into the next, and to explore the transforming nature of emotion. As my journey as an artist began primarily as a means to process depression and anxiety, this piece felt like a call back to my roots: it was a way to connect with the parts of being human that demand attention, however messy and exhausting they may be.

This piece is an eclectic one, full of tiny details from assorted patterns to different butterflies and flowers and dreamy watercolor bleeds; the overall piece is meant to feel like a quilt made of watercolor — a cozy, soft place to explore and honor one’s feelings.
